Family Law

Estate Planning
Planning for one's death is usually not a pleasant thought but is so important. We are ready to aid clients in preparing the most beneficial estate plan for their needs. This includes drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and transfer on death deeds. We work with clients to develop plans that will most effectively carry out the client's intentions at death. Plans can be made to care for small children, equitably divide property among beneficiaries, protect assets for retirement, and minimize taxes.
Probate
Probate cases come at a painful time for many families because a loved one has passed away. Our attorneys are available to assist families in these difficult times and can move an estate through the probate system from beginning to end whether a last will and testament exists or not. All of the related issues such as property transfer, estate distribution, and federal and state estate tax returns will also be completed. If the decedent has created a trust, we can assist families and trustees in carrying out the directives of the trust. We also handle cases where no probate is required, but property needs to be transferred or distributed.
Negligence entails seeking redress for wrongs committed by the negligent acts of another. These cases can include car accidents, defective products, or the acts of another person. These cases typically involve insurance carriers in some form or another.

We work with clients at all stages of a real estate transaction, whether drafting a purchase contract, preparing deeds, or doing a title search. We also handle problems that may arise concerning real property. These include boundary disputes, land partition, or fence issues.
Oil, Gas, Solar & Wind
The oil & gas industries are large and economically important in Kansas. We have represented thousands of mineral owners in cases before the Unites States Supreme Court. We have vast experiences with legal issues related to the oil and gas industry, including oil and gas leasing, division orders, conveyance of mineral and royalty interests, pollution of ground and surface water, and surface damages. Our attorneys prepare title opinions for oil and gas production purposes as well as draft a wide variety of legal documents related to this industry. We review leases for wind energy turbines, solar installations and power lines to protect landowners.
